Advanced Learner Loans
Change your career with an Advanced Learner Loan
When you study for a professional qualification you make an investment in your career that will boost your earnings potential.
Whether you want to change career completely or gain a promotion, an Advanced Learner Loan can help you make these ambitions come true by offering financial help towards your training costs.
The government is introducing Advanced Learner Loans. These will replace the 24+ Advanced Learning Loans from 1 August 2016. The loans will now be available to learners aged 19 or over, studying a Level 3, or higher, qualification.
You will only start to pay the loan back when you earn over £21,000, and, if you move on from a Level 3 qualification into higher education your loan may be written off. It’s easy to apply, your household income isn’t taken into account and there’s no credit check.
To qualify you must be:
- Aged 19 or over at the start of your course (there’s no upper age limit)
- A resident in the UK for three years prior to the start of your course
- Enrolling on an eligible course at Level 3 and above which includes our Access to HE programme, other Diplomas and Certificates
- Your course will need to start on or after 1 August 2016
Applying is easy
You will be able to apply for an Advanced Learner Loan from 1 May 2016, for courses starting between 1 August 2016 and 31 July 2017. We will add the link here once available.
Before applying you will need to ensure you have a Learning and Funding Information Letter from the college – it contains the details about your course. Please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org or call Freephone 0800 616149.
Once you’ve completed your course, you’ll be eligible to apply for more Advanced Learner Loans (up to a total of four loans) to help you progress in your studies.
